Thedealerhadnoticedmyexcitement,andwhenshecameoverItoldherthestoryofthemissingbox.ShesaidthechinahadcomefromanestatesaleinPasadena—thenexttownoverfromArcadia,wherewehadlivedwhenIwasachild.Whenshewasgoingthroughthecontentsoftheestate,shehadfoundanoldunopenedcartonstoredinthegardenshed,andthechinawasinit.Shequestionedtheheirsaboutthechinaandtheysaidthattheyknewnothingaboutit,thattheboxhadbeenintheshed「forever.」

LastweekIhadadinnerpartyforfifteenfriends.WeusedGrandmother』schina.Andattheendofthemeal,Iproudlyservedcoffeeinthosebeautifulcupsandsaucersthathadbeenmissingforsolong.
